N1MM Logger Plus Contest Logging Software Released

We all have our favourite logging programs, and for those of us who have a special preference for contest logging when HRD or your day-to-day logger just doesn’t cut it, this might be of interest.

The software author makes a bold claim that N1MM Plus will ‘put the nail in the coffin’ of comparable programs and has a fairly loyal following of users already. If you would like to trial N1MM for yourself, head over to the official N1MM Logger Plus page where you will find a full installation file ready to use on your machine.

It should be noted that while N1MM is a working program, it is still in BETA and users of the software while in this development stage are encouraged to join the relevant Yahoo reflector where you will be able to pass comments, report bugs and assist in the future development of N1MM which at this point in time looks like quite a promising contender and alternative as a contest logger. Let’s see how this one develops.

Talk on Electronic Components and Circuit Assessment

Rodney has been busy preparing his talk for the monthly Taplin meet being held on Wednesday 27th on the subject of Electronic Components and Circuit Assessment which will no doubt prove to be an interesting and educational evening.

The doors open around 7.30pm as usual and given the Wx’s turn for the worst in recent days you may want to leave that little bit earlier and ensure that your drive to the club is a safe one. The roads are particularly wet at the moment so be careful.

See you on Wednesday!

We have a large number of individual traders booked for the event that deal in;shack computers, new and used amateur radio equipment, RF components, Clansman + accessories, test equipment, coax, vintage electronics and tools, together with a Bring & Buy stall.

We do hope that you and your members will be able to join us at what we are sure will be an excellent day out, but please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you need any further information. We are attaching an A4 poster in case you are able to print this out for display in your club shack.

Very many thanks in advance for any support that you are able to offer for our event, and please rest assured that we would be very happy to reciprocate by promoting any of your events to our club members.

BSARS Dungeness Lifeboat Station Weekend 2014

For anyone up on 40m this weekend keep an eye open for the BSARS ops over at the Dungeness Lifeboat Station who are operating GB1DLH until Sunday late afternoon.

Most of the members will be there including Antony G4CUS, Martin M0MJU, Steve M0SSR, Phil G3MGQ and others who will be operating and socialising at this popular weekend event. If you are in the area you are welcome to pop in and say hello.

BSARS attend the Dungeness Lighthouse every year and if the last few years were anything to go by it should be a good weekend as the weather has held up nicely so far and let’s keep our fingers crossed that the good Wx continues for them. According to K7RA’s solar updates, this weekend looks ‘quiet’ geomagnetically.

Update: BSARS had a great weekend at Dungeness and had over 350 contacts with stations far and wide. The 2014 GB1DLH log has also been uploaded to the site along with a report of the Dungeness International Lifeboat and Lighthouses Weekend.
