RSGB Special Events for June 2014

There are some interesting special events this month starting off today1st of June with the Binche radio club in Belgium who will be operating with the call ON44WAR near to what used to be Hitlers bunker. They will be using both phone and CW modes and operating on vintage rigs on 40m. QSL will be via ON7RY.

Fans of aviation as I am and having visited Duxford on a number of occasions in past years will be pleased to hear that they will be operating GB2IWM on 6 June to commemorate the 70th anniversary of D-Day. The Duxford Radio Society, based at the Imperial War Museum Duxford, Cambridgeshire will be operating on most of the HF bands using military rigs between 9am and 7pm UTC. Visitors are quite welcome to stop by and visit.

In addition to Duxfords station which is commemorating D-Day, the HMS Belfast will also be active until the end of the month and using the callsign GB70DDAY. GB70DDL will be on the air from 1 to 28 June. The Belfast will be operation its station on all the HF bands in CW, SSB, PSK and other digital modes. The HMS Belfast station is going to operate by Riverway ARS in conjunction with the Stafford and Rugeley Sea Cadets at the cadets HQ in Stafford.

If you like the idea of amateur radio enthusiats operating portable from Nuclear bunkers, then the Riverway ARS is one to look out for. Their station is to be operated from four Royal Observer Corps Nuclear Bunkers until 9 June. GB1SNB from Shenstone, GB6GNB from Gonsall, from Rugeley and GB4SNB from Standon.

That just about wraps it up for Junes special RSGB events and looks like it will be an enjoyable one too!

2014 AGM and Committee Members Wanted

Hello to all Hastings Electronics and Radio Club members!

Just a quick reminder that the upcoming HERC AGM is being held on the 26th of February at the Taplin Centre and all members are of course welcome to attend and show their support for the club and catch up for a natter afterwards.

I would also like to bring to the club’s attention that Wilf (M0GYE), the clubs current Chairman has iterated that the club is currently actively looking for new committee members to assist in the running of the club, and that nominations should go to Terry (G4FET) the clubs President.

Your voice will become a part of the clubs operation and potential committee members should not be put off by many lengthy committee meetings as they are conducted via Skype from the comfort of your own home. There is one meeting per month and each one lasts for around 45 minutes.

If you feel as though you may be able to help please get in contact with Gordon Sweet or Wilf Gaye directly as your expertise will be invaluable to the clubs ongoing success.

Have a great year on the air!
