GB3ES returns to service

GB3ES has finally returned to service on Wednesday 17th Feb 2016, albeit at a new site location which was in part responsible for a long and drawn out process which resulted in a year and a half delay. This sadly left local amateurs without their favourite 2m repeater, and was sorely missed by those that used it.

Local amateurs and now those much further afield will be able to use GB3ES using new RF hardware and sporting 10w ERP in accordance with the keeper, G6ZZX’s NoV.

Since Wednesday, reports have come in from as far as Margate, revealing that the current site with its greater elevation (~150ft above the old site), means that GB3ES is getting out very well indeed. The repeater has been very busy over the last few days and good signal reports continue to come in.

Long live GB3ES and congratulations to GB3ES’s keeper, Steve Woodgate (G6ZZX) for his  perseverance with the whole process who was assisted by Chris M1MBR.

The status of local repeaters, including GB3ES can be found on the right hand column of this site, about halfway down. You might also like to view GB3ES’s record.

GB3ES Still Offline as of 24th September 2014

Hastings local repeaters have been working well of late with GB3HE 70cm being used by local amateurs and those further afield. Sadly it seems the local 2m repeater is still offline as states with no word from the keeper as yet regarding bringing it back online. 2m users can thank Dave Williams (G8PUO) at RILGES for continuing to put repeaters in place which have superb coverage even in GB3HE’s initial working state, but are also popular locally and we shouldn’t forget that the RILGES 2m repeater is available as always.

While GB3ES has been offline since July 3rd due to it locking up on TX we remain hopeful that at some point in the future that the repeater returns to an active state as it was indicated last year that the keeper of the repeater had a new technical team planned ready to put in place along with the possibility of a new site for GB3ES.

Fingers crossed that we hear something positive soon.

GB3ES repeater now back online

After several weeks of downtime, GB3ES, Hastings 2M repeater is now back online.

According to the repeaters keeper, the logic was at fault along with a faulty backup battery.

ES has been reported as being fully operational and is now being tested by local amateurs who are pleased to see local VHF communication restored.
